Lakshmi Narayanaswami, a devoted servant of Sarangapani Perumal Temple, dedicated his life to the Lord and His temple, including the building of its grand Rajagopuram. Yet, being childless, he carried one quiet worry—who would perform his final rites?

Hindu tradition teaches that Pitru Karma is essential for a soul's peaceful journey. In a divine affirmation of this truth, when Narayanaswami passed away on Deepavali, Perumal Himself appeared as a Brahmin and performed the last rites. The next day, the Lord was seen with wet garments and the sacred thread worn in the ritual manner—confirming the sacred act.

Through this leela, Perumal showed that Pitru Karma is a sacred duty, honoured even by the Divine, reminding us of its timeless importance in Sanātana Dharma.
